News today amongst all of the major players that Rumsfeld is planning troop drawdowns in Iraq in the new year -- you know, the kind of news that some players have been demanding for the last, oh, almost an eternity. While I am glad to read the news, and think that it means that the situation in Iraq is continuing to improve, I'm wondering why we aren't seeing some certain characters around here posting new articles that say something along the lines of "It's about time", or similar ones that would be evidence of crowing that the master of all that is evil -- George W. Bush -- and his other neocon buddies are finally doing the right thing.
Why is it that once the left gets what they want they can't be happy or show any apparent emotion? They have cried for hard and fast numbers and plans for a drawdown for a while now, and here it's coming to pass and they sit on their hands?!? Is it because this is yet another sign that Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice and all of the gang knew what they were doing, and proceeding to follow a clear plan -- get the job done, get it done right, and then bring our troops home. That has always been the message from President Bush. It's the message he's been hammering home on over the last few weeks, and it's the message that is apparently resonating with the U.S. citizenry as President Bush's approval ratings have been on the rise lately.
I'm sure more chicken little articles are coming. More demands for hard and fast numbers, hard deadlines, and all of the other intelligence that might help our enemies will continue to flow, but apparently having the Congress away for the holiday break is leading to more good news, rather than bad, coming through in the media.
Perhaps the same holiday break is providing us all a break from the robotic clueless old liberal as well. Whatever the case may be, I will certainly not look such gift horses in the mouth.
