Speed decrease

Object Desktop Speed Impact - acceptable or not?

OK folks, is this UI really worth the speed decrease? I'm back after three years away from Stardock. Listen, I love these guys - hell, their office is three miles from work!! What are your own experiences with overall UI speed running WB, DX, ETC. Are you happy? So far, I think my answer is NO, under anything less than WIN2003 X64 which really seems unaffected so far (???) PLEASE let me know your thoughts!
