LA Gov. Blanco refuses to sign over N.G. control to Feds

Explain this one Bush bashers

I know a certain clueless old liberal has tried to impress us with his complete lack of knowledge in how the National Guard works (including the usual share of swipes at Bush's tour of duty in the Guard and Reserves in his own words and in the comments added by others), but for all the blowhard comments saying that Bush should have just ordered troops into the area immediately, how about answering this statement:

Blanco has refused to sign over control of the National Guard to the federal government and has turned to a Clinton administration official, former Federal Emergency Management Agency chief James Lee Witt, to help run relief efforts.

So, I ask again, just what does a supposed retired military man do to explain away his lack of knowledge in how the Guard and Reserves work and who they report to? Even better, how does any liberal explain away the politics that is being played here by Blanco in refusing to cooperate with the federal government? Certainly she is entitled to handle the situation in the best way she sees fit, but for the all the griping and whining that the Feds are the ones to blame, and that Bush has let these people down, how again is Blanco herself not to blame?

The "mayor" is the first one who's needs to get slammed! Butthead sat on 700 school buses that could have made a "big" difference in the evacuation.

Interesting how they keep ignoring this fact. I guess that's because they haven't figured out a way to blame Bush for it.

drmiler I too had my Dress Blues Tailored. If you had been in any of the units I commanded, you would have had a attitude adjustment or would have been a PFC!

I answered the Bus question on another Blog. In the two days prior to the storm, it is unlikely they could have made more then one round trip given the traffic. If they made two trips, that would be 7,000. There were 25-30 times that number . The ONLY agency that had the resources needed was the Active Military which was under the control of Bush. It took the Guard 6 days to arrive in the numbers needed to do the job!

Eh, beg to differ on this one w/ you drmiler. Officers have dress blues. I can still remember my father complaining about having to wear them for Dining-Ins and Dining-Outs (welcomes and farewells for incoming officers/senior NCO).

And COL, the same tailoring standards that apply to the dress blues, also apply to the Class A uniform.

I stand corrected. Sorry about that. I thought it went from class "A"'s to mess dress. I see now that I was wrong. But the first part of my statement still stands.

The Air Force has dress blues. They also have mess dress, which is like a tuxedo uniform.

You are truly DUMB. The Army has Dress Blues ( the blouse is a dark blue and the trousers are a lighter blue. The Army also has a blue and white mess uniform. YOU LOOSE DUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go to Google and look it up. They have pictures for you to see! Army Men's Dress Blue Coat for Officers, Item # 09-100

Jacket - Material is the 55/45 breathable wool-blend tropical weave providing wrinkle free appearance and great durability. And yet somehow the military could move enough men and equipment there to transport them in two days, AFTER having forced them out of their homes at gunpoint. How is this making your argument, Col? If they HAD forced people out of their homes, you'd be here screaming Gestapo! at the top of your lungs.

Again, anyway, is the fact that you can't move them all an excuse for moving none? Is the fact that 700 buses couldn't haul them all an excuse for not taking out 700 buses worth? Or are you a reasonable person and really understand what you are accusing Bush of is silly, and hope that the smear sticks regardless?
