A Rose By Any Other Name...

Today started out ok. I got on my bike and started for work. About half way there I ran into rain. When riding a bicycle rain takes on a whole new meaning, but actually it felt pretty good. Unfortunately, it rained all day. I gained a new understanding of how a duck must feel some days.

After work (still raining) I stopped by the local pub for a couple of brews. It was karaoke night which seemed appropriate after the miserable day I'd had. I'm pretty sure "karaoke" means " revenge for Hiroshima" in Japanese. Anyway, while I was drinking a few and thinking about past love and current circumstance I met a young lady (very young, half my age or less) with whom I conversed for a while.

She seemed enamoured of my deep voice and kept trying to get me to sing karaoke with her, which I kept politely refusing. I sing like a bird...ever heard a buzzard? I have far too much empathy for my fellow man to ever sing in public.

At one point during the evening she bought me a single rose. While I always thought it was the guy who was supposed to buy the girl a flower, I was still somewhat flattered that this young lady bought me a sweet smelling bit of flora. If I were only 20 years younger.

I finally excused myself and departed for the balance of my bike ride home. Happily, it had finally stopped raining.

I need to get a pedal bike. My work is only ten blocks away, and it's not like I can't use the exercise. My issue is that snow's just around the corner...and they don't make snow tires for pedal bikes... But I could definitely save lots on gas for right now...

Ahhhhhh Mason.......rain sure didn't dampen your enthuisiasm for a good brew and some company. Which is a goooood thing
Now you realize of course that gals have always looked up to older men, you did realize that ? of course you did and being a
southern gentleman you didn't take advantage of her being enamored of you. Ohhhhh well...this could be the start of a good
friendship though. Glad to read you're out and about!
