Love him or hate him, Peter Jennings was the face of ABC nightly news for a long time. He was the last of the big 3 news anchors: Brokaw, Rather and Jennings.
Jennings lived a long life in terms of anchormen, serving for as long as I can remember... Throughout memories that include David Brinkley and Chet Huntley (spelling?), Brokaw, Rather and various combinations at CBS.
He had a fairly transparent liberal view to the news business, but always seemed to be matter of fact in his delivery of the news. He'll be missed, having (as noted in the news, and in a few other blog entries as well) passed away of lung cancer that he was recently battling.
I hope that perhaps some day all forms of cancer are wiped off the face of the earth, including especially lung cancer, which has taken the lives of so many over time.
May Mr. Jennings rest in peace.
