In response to Sen. Durbans comments on the Senate floor on June 14th, I decided to write to my Senators here in Florida. Here is what I wrote them:
Sen. Nelson,
Sir, I respectfully would like to know if you plan on rebutting Sen. Durbans comments he made on June 14th on the Senate floor. And if you are not, would you please in the name of those of your supporters who think his actions were harmful.
I think it is absolutely beyond the scope of his position as Senator to make the defaming comments he did about our military and the treatment of people who are bent on killing Americans. Al-Jezzera has actually gone so far as to post his comments as being pro-insurgency. This is beyond my comprehension.
To equate our nation and its leaders with those of the Nazi’s, The Soviet Gulags and Pol Pot just goes beyond reason. Did he not think these comments would reach our men and women in uniform? How would you feel, a military person, if you heard your nations leaders talking this way about how you are doing your job?
Please take a stand. Please stand up for our men and women in uniform and condemn the outrageous behavior of Sen. Durban. Evil thrives – when good men do nothing..
Respectfully yours,
Ex-Army Veteran and Disabled Vet.
I sent this same thing to Sen. Martinez. I would hope all of you readers would send something along those lines. Time has come for “good people” to stand up and make their voices heard.
