In the wake of Terri Schiavo's death, majority asshole Tom Delay attacked the supreme court justices for upholding their duty. In this case, it seems that many people are suffering from "trial amnesia" (yes, that is derived from the president's quote). Tom Delay's family pulled the plug on his own father, and yet he seems outraged when it is someone else's family. Nobody, I repeat: nobody has the abilty, and this includes congress, to overthrow the power of the supreme court. Some other top republican, and I forget who, said that in a case like this, the power should be given to the family. Yeah, that's why we have courts. It has been said that it is the wish of congress and the president to have the feeding tube reinstated. That seems to be the case, but it really does not matter except to bring protesters to the cause. Congress does not have the power to do judicial jobs, or to do the job of the supreme court for it. This case has really brought out the ignorance and disregard for the judicial system in congress today. I don't want to pass judgement on what is the right thing to do here, here being the feeding tube removal, but you really need to trust the court to do its job. This is a problem all over the country, actually, people not being trusted to do their jobs. Doctors, teachers, to name a few. Anyway, that's for another time.
