I've had this mischevious little grey hair pop out of the top of my head a day or two ago. Judging by the length, it's probably actually been there longer, but I've only recently noticed it because it sticks straight up off the top of my head.
According to one beautician friend, this isn't my first grey, but it's the first that I've found. I don't have any strong emotion either way. Greying doesn't bother me. I don't take it as a sign that I'm old - maybe because I'm not, and it's not going to age me any faster.
I watched one friend freak out because someone found one grey hair on her head last month. She's got a few years on me, but I still don't see the big deal. Maybe because my hair color is such that the grey color will probably blend right in - if not in texture.
I was tempted to pull the hair out this morning anyway, because it was literally standing straight up 3 inches off my head, but I was afraid that the action would be misinterpreted, even if only by myself. So, I moved my part over a bit, at least until the little guy grows out or tames down. I suppose where there's one, there will be more. I might have to invest in some hair spray until things calm down.
