There's also a 'Launch KVM connection screen' button that just opens a blank screen with 'New connection' up in the top left corner and a message that I currently have no configured computers, etc.

I have MP4 Pro, but it isn't clear how to assign a hotkey when using the KVM mode. I can see the hotkeys setting, but this is clearly for the seamless setting, which I don't use.

...yes, the 'Hotkey' main feature block is indeed meant for Seamless.
Seamless connections are constant; thus, hotkeys will work every time, they have a consistent location (PC, Monitor, etc). KVM connections are not; they are session-based, and the Window to identify them is not static.
Needless to say, there are MANY more variables for KVM connections, most are technical but other are usage. For example, what would you want a hotkey to do in a KVM session?
That is not to say we have not considered hotkeys for KVM sessions, we just need to be sure it's practical and there are enough use cases to justify the time and tech investment.
