Can we please have a list view without the need for a folder portal, please?

Has there been any movement on this? I also have the need for a list view on the desktop. Does anyone know of a way to replicate the desktop list view functionality (that was previously native to Windows)? I understand that I can create a folder portal and enable list view https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1331920916 - but was wondering if Stardock has an application or combination of applications where I can reproduce the function.
Also, if I create a Folder Portal to desktop, I still get anything created on the desktop on the general desktop as well. So it looks like a duplicate. Is there a way to suppress this or manage this with sorting and organizing configuration?

Hi, Thanks for the reply. Do you know if there is a way to suppress the default rule 'all icons go to general desktop'? If I create a portal to Desktop, and I something is sent to Desktop, I get a duplicate on the General Desktop.
You can set Fences rule to send all new icons to specific Fences.
Thanks but I'd like anything placed on the desktop (that has a portal setup) to simply just be in the desktop. Don't need a duplicate in a Fence. Is that possible?
I am not really clear on "Anything placed on the desktop" simply just be in the desktop. Can you clarify this one. A screenshot on that "dublicate" problem might help.
