Stuttering and freezing photo changes

This is a problem with Windows 11...and I was hoping that DeskScapes would fix it...but it hasn't. Just throwing this into the mix and hope it helps.

Running SurfacePro 8 and also a Desktop with i9:10920X and 64GB RAM and dedicated 5GB Video card. Funnily enough the desktop despite being more powerful has a more dramatic effect

In essence if I have Personalistation/Background set for a slideshow and pointing to a folder of JPEGs I get this problem. It is the same for DeskScapes and selecting the same folder of images.

On a picture change, the right hand side of the taskbar flickers (ie time date, WifI/Cable, Sound etc icons) and sometimes comes with the odd beep too, and Windows freezes for 5 or so seconds and then it works again. During that freeze I can move my mouse...just nothing happens when I click or type. I have fedback to MS on every release to no avail.

Maybe you guys can fix it in DeskScapes!

Sorry to hear you are having issues. I notice the flickers too. But from my observation, the taskbar tray area will flicker if you turn on Accent color to change "Automatic" according to your wallpaper. Which is, every time wallpaper change, your accent color change. It will should stop flickering if you set it to "Manual". Try it and see if it help with your issue too.

This is a known flaw in how Windows handles slideshows when you have the accent colour from the wallpaper. It causes a huge number of messages to be sent around the system which lags horribly.

Deskscapes has an option to disable this under settings.

Click settings at the bottom left of the config UI, then pick settings from the menu. On the window that opens pick the performance tab and at the very bottom is an option called "playlists do not change accent colour (apps may stall otherwise)". Turn that on and playlists will now change smoothly.
