KVM Mode fails

Hi,

Just installed trial KVM Pro. Everything seems to work- seamless, audio ... except KVM mode:

I setup secondary and added it to KVM config and set up key for starting KVM mode, close config window.

Start KVM mode and get screen where I can select my secondary. At the top it shows the possibility to switch monitor, return to primary, and gear config. My secondary is there in the mittle and I hit connect. KVM screen just disappears. I don't see the screen of my secondary anywhere. Am I missing something?

Thanks Basj,

Sadly the document is not much help. It doesn't mention the problem I'm having. I tried with a second secondary, this time identifed by IP address as the doc suggested, but same problem. I've also made sure all machines can receive pings. Wil now try rebooting all machines and router. (I cannot connect the secondaries via ethernet as they don't have sockets. Am also reluctant to try the clean boot...)

Rebooting router and all machines didn't help. BTW, all are Win10, but at different release levels (1 version number or so)

Primary Win 10 1909 Display 1 & 2 both 1920x1080 (Recommended) Scaling 100%

Secondary 1 Win 10 1903 Laptop Display 1920x1080 (Recommended) Scaling 150%

Secondary 2 Win 10 1909 Laptop Display 3200x1800 (Recommended) Scaling 225%

Hello,

Also what are your connections Wireless or Ethernet ?

Try disable AV software if needed .

I'm having a very similar issue evaluating this software.  As I can see a live screen of the secondary computer on the sidebar on my primary computer, and Multiplicity tells with it has connected to the computer, I don't think it's a connection problem.  The primary computer just won't start a KVM session.

I am running the latest iteration of Windows 10 64bit on my computers, but they have different monitor settings.  My primary computer is connected to an ultrawide monitor (21x9) where the secondary computers are set to 16x9.  Is this likely to cause a problem?

So when you connect the entire app closes or you are left looking at a black screen?

and what version does Multiplicity say in the about page?

Hi Judy - Same experience...  I can see the live thumbnail of the secondary (so not a connection problem) but when I click connect, it just reverts to the desktop... Glad to see I'm not alone!

I do get a (delayed) message saying "Connection Successful"!? using AES-256 encryption and using Multiplicity 3 ... just tried changing the encryption key on both systems, no joy.

I did also try with primary and secondary at same resolution & scaling, but it doesn't make any difference

Have to use wireless to the secondary (laptop doesn't have ethernet port). Primary connected on ethernet.

Turning AV off doesn't help...

Have tried connecting my secondary PCs directly to my router via hubs with ethernet (they are both notebooks without onboard ethernet), but this made no difference to Multiplicity.  My primary PC is already connected directly to my router over ethernet.

This thread has now gone quiet. Does anyone have any ideas on what is wrong?

Judy - did you get it working?

Stardock support won't accept reports on problems like this. Will certainly not be paying to move from the trial version if the product doesn't work ... Is anybody from Stardock monitoring the forum?

Hi Barry

They don't seem to be monitoring these threads too closely.  I've noticed a number of similar issues in regard to new installations and eventually tried what was suggested on one:  uninstall V3.5 and purge Multiplicity, then install previous version 3.44.  Links to this are detailed in reply 13 of 'Cannot connect to second computer' by Vaneyen.  This version brought up the secondary desktop IMMEDIATELY, except that I had a problem with keyboard and mouse.  I ran another bat file that fixed port issues (on a separate thread) and now have full functionality for 2 secondary computers.

Hopefully they're investigating the cause of this problem and will have a resolution soon.  Not sure how they would advise us of a solution - presumably we're expected to keep an eye on this forum.

Thanks again Judy - that also worked for me, including fixing KVM mode

So they need to fix v 3.5
