Help

Recently updated second computer to windows 10-other computer was already windows 10. Now multiplicity is flakey. Sometimes it quits working on the second monitor even when I'm actively using it. Then the cursor won't move from the first to the second monitor. Then in a while it works again. Also, on the second monitor the cursor doesn't move smoothly, it jumps around and is hard to control. How can I fix these issues?

Would you Please do this PURGE: https://forums.stardock.com/486104/multiplicity-support-faq#reinstalling

Reboot and Re-Install the latest version from your account Reboot 

and test and report back please.

That's an auto download link.

when you click on it , it downloads the batch file 

then go to your downloads and run the batch file .

Finally got the bat file to download. ran it on both computers and rebooted. After reboot, multiplicity was running and working (sort of) so I can't see that there was much of a purge. I reinstalled the latest on both computers. It's just as flakey as it was before.

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Sometimes it quits working on the second monitor even when I'm actively using it.

What does 'quit working mean here?  Did it stop interacting with the desktop, stop copy / paste, won't move to it from a Primary?

Then the cursor won't move from the first to the second monitor.

If you mean from the Primary to the Secondary, please say as much.  'Monitors' could mean the same PC and would not involve Multiplicity.


Finally got the bat file to download. ran it on both computers and rebooted. After reboot, multiplicity was running and working (sort of) so I can't see that there was much of a purge.

Then something did not work or it was done incorrectly.  Please use:

Dont worry about mentioning monitors; just refer to any issues as PC or Primary and Secondary.

I've run the purge bat file twice now. Ran it on both computers and restarted each time. It looks like it runs on the primary-I get some screens popping up so it looks like it's doing something. On the secondary computer it's not obvious that it runs anything.

In any case, after reboot, Multiplicity still works (sort of) so the purge.bat isn't removing anything from either computer as far as I can see.

Do you have MP installed in its proper default location:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Multiplicity

Are you using MP over wireless or Ethernet?  If the former, can you test via Ethernet?

The primary computer has multiplicity in the directory you referenced in your email. In the secondary computer there is no stardock or multiplicity directory in  Program Files (86) so I don’t know where it’s installed.

 

Not sure about your second question. The primary computer is connected to router via ethernet  and the secondary is connected to the router via wifi. Connecting the secondary to the router via ethernet would not be easy.

 

I can’t find multiplicity in the add/remove programs in either computer. So I don’t know how you would uninstall it. Shouldn’t it show up there?

I don't know what's happened to multiplicity-it used to be such a useful program. I removed and reinstalled it from both computers last night. It was working fine. This morning it doesn't work at all. The cursor won't move to the second computer. 

I did some investigation and I can't find where it's installed on the second computer. There is no Program Filews (x86)/Stardock folder at all.  But it runs on that computer and the window pops up.

On the primary computer it wouldn't run from the windows key/run multiplicity. It appeared to be installed in the correct folder, but half the files were gone. I reinstalled it and now everything is working again.

Something happened to the primary computer when it was rebooted. There must be some way to get this fixed again. It's no good this way.

Do you have the OS feature to share you clipboard between devices enabled?

This is not enabled by default but we have had reports this is causing a problem in Multiplicity.

Yes. Share clipboards is enabled.

Just happened again. I was using with cursor on secondary. All of a sudden the cursor wouldn't move. Looking at primary, cursor wouldn't move to secondary. This happened while I was actually using it. Just not right.

Try disabling it and reboot.  The problem should go away.  That's the OS feature not the Multiplicity clipboard sharing feature of course.

doesns't fix anything

pretty much unusable. cursor stops moving right in the middle of some action i'm trying to accomplish

when playing sound from primary compupter to secondary sound is intermittent just like cursor.

I'M TOLD THIS IS MONITORED BY STARDOCK PERSONNEL FOR SUPPORT PURPOSES. IS ANYBODY THERE?

Do you expect the team to respond at some point? At least to let me know they are working on. At this point multiplicity is unusable. When I try to do something on the secondary computer the mouse stops working on the secondary for minutes at a time. Then it starts again. IT'S UNUSABLE!

Are you using wireless or wired connections?

For the mouse to suddenly stop working it points to a network level issue.  This would also be the case for sound.
