Single monitor, but different inputs?

Hi.  I'm curious... If I use the KVM version (not pro), and I set up a primary and secondary (in KVM mode), would I also be able to add a third PC in KM mode, but have it connected to the same single monitor, BUT A DIFFERENT INPUT on that monitor?  Would that count as a 'second monitor'?

I have two PCs I regularily switch back/forth on (which would require KVM mode), but a third that I would only need access from on rare occasions... so, I'm wondering if I could go to KM mode when using that, but still use only 1 monitor, but have that 3rd PC connected to it via a different input (...so, it's not a KVM thing, in that the software is switching to the remote screens... but instead, ME manually switching to a different input on the same monitor).

I currently have a similar setup to that, where the two secondary PCs (along with being linked via KVM mode) are also linked (via a physical KVM switcher) to the same single monitor, using a different input (D-Sub, whereas Multiplicity is using the HDMI input), for when I want to use the secondary PCs without the primary PC being on (or without Multiplicity active).  So, I'm wondering if I could do a similar thing to allow access to that 3rd PC, even with the KVM version (not pro) of Multiplicity.

I can't test it here, as the demo is the Pro version.

Your description is a bit hard to follow but as a rule, MP does not care about any number of monitors, or how they are connected, it cares about how many Secondaries their are.

That said, the only difference from KVM and KVM pro is how many Secondaries the Primary can connect to, concurrently, via KVM.  Both allow for 8 Secondaries via Seamless (KM).

Okay, here's another explanation:

3 computers (Win7). Single monitor, keyboard, speakers and mouse.

Using Multiplicity KVM (not pro).

I have my primary and secondary1 connected via KVM mode.  (Seondary2 cannot be connected via KVM mode due to limit of version) This allows me to freely jump between the two, which I frequently do...

Now, what I'm trying to sort out, is if I can then connect the third PC (secondary2) to the primary... but have it's video out going to the alternate video input of the monitor (so, I'd have to manually switch using the monitor's input button) to jump between the direct video of Secondary2 and the Multiplicy KVM video (Primary and Secondary1).

I would then stay in KVM mode (which means I can't access Secondary2)... but, when I DO need to access Secondary2, could I do so by switching to KM mode, then pressing the monitor's video input select button...  basically, going from 'Primary/Secondary1 KVM mode' to 'Primary/Secondary2 KM mode' using that setup?

I don't use the 3rd PC often (and when I do, it's usually in isolation of the others)... So, I'm just seeing if I can address all three PCs using the KVM (non-pro) version of Multiplicity, by switching to KM mode to access it (and using the SAME single monitor, but different video input).

 

...and, while I got you here, could you tell me the current upgrade price from Multiplicity KVM to KVM Pro?  I have all the prices except that, I think.

Landon, I can only tell you how MP is meant to function within its feature set.  Theory-crafting, where there is (seemingly) manual switching involved, or outside the scope of how MP is known to function, is not something I can comment intelligently on.  

My suggestion, if you have not already tried things, is to do so - try.

Hi.  The demo version is KVM Pro, so I wasn't sure it would be able to replicate what KVM would do.  I'll have to see if I can disable any KVM functionality on Secondary2 to test it.

As for the pricing, I had mentioned before that those links do not reveal a price.  It seems you need an existing purchase in order to see the upgrade pricing... so, it's of no use to someone thinking of buying, and wanting to get into about future options.

You had previously provided me with a screengrab showing the upgrade prices I listed in my other post, but they do not include KVM to KVM Pro, which is what I am asking about.  Plus, I'm not sure if those are the current prices, so I was asking for someone to simply verify the ones I listed, and tell me the one I yet do not know (KVM to KVM Pro).
