By now I am getting pretty fed-up with Fences 3.0 and the support pages as well. I am throwing this into the forum, as for crying out loud, I cannot even create a ticket since I'm told my username/password are incorrect (well, I made it in here, haven't I?) and to make things even worse: a password reset for the ticketing system is simply impossible, since there is no CAPTCHA being displayed! En result: sending a ticket to support has a 100% fail rate. Good lord!
So here I am, in the forum. I've searched it for similar problems, and they all point to doing a full fresh re-installation, running the "Purge_Fences.bat" file.
Here's what's happening:
- I cannot resize fences (the fences simply do not respond to any mouse movements)
- I cannot create new fences (there's no " create new fence here" pop-up)
- I cannot rename fences
- I cannot move icons into a fence
- I cannot move icons out of a fence
That's pretty much everything in basic functionality that Fences offers.
First I thought: maybe it has to do with my Stardock Desktop subscription having run out of time. So I first renewed it. $20 gone - that was NOT the reason.
Then, I removed Fences, did a restart, reinstalled Fences.
Problems remained.
Then, I ran the "Purge_Fences.bat" file as an administrator, restarted Win10, and did a fresh restall.
Notably, it picked up all old settings (even snapshots) while these SHOULD have been bloody purged.
So much for " purging" .
FYI:
- Fences are NOT set to " locked" (THAT menu I can see on a right-click)
- the fancy stuff, like applying colours etc are accessible within the Fences Settings, and they can even be applied
Well, I pray for the basic functionality to work first; the bells & whistles are of later concern to me
End result: Fences won't work, I cannot properly create a ticket for support, and I've spent $20 in vain.
What a nice day this has been.
Who can help me out? Might there even BE a way out of this, or should we just ditch this stuff altogether?
Thanks in advance,
kk
