I'll start off by saying I know this game is still in early access, otherwise I wouldn't even make a post.
Now, onto what I want to say. So far I'm not impressed. I am so unimpressed, I no longer want to play the game so as not to risk being able to refund my money. But I can see this game has a lot of potential, it has a semi-unique idea and a known team to back it, but that alone does not convince me that this game will be in any better condition than it is now.
After playing the available campaign missions and a few very short skirmish missions, I was left with a question of "that's it?" A few different units and a customizable robot. Sure there are different game modes with varying objectives, but nothing strikes me as being very fun. Maps are small, there are a small amount of units to choose from, very short missions, everything is focused on your giant mech, which I understand is the point of the game but it makes it feel as if other units have no purpose. I can't even zoom out to see the whole map, being confined to a small area is just annoying. I don't feel like I'm strategizing, I feel as if I'm running around collection bloom before I run 3 mechs into battle and hoping the parts I have can hold out against my foe's. It's just a boring concept for something that brands itself as an RTS.
I'm honestly not sure what the point of having different factions is either. Is this a planned feature? Or is it just a different name. Different units for different factions would definitely add some fun to the game, but there is only so much that can be done. And with the limited feel that this game has, I don't want to expect anything too serious.
There is one thing I enjoy about the game though. The art style fits the game perfectly, and the city-based maps are really nice to look at, along with the rest of the game, and I hope that doesn't change.
I want to like this game, I really do, but there is something about it that is really off-putting. Maybe its the fact that your most powerful unit is your first. Maybe its the fact that Servo feels like a really bad/weird moba rather than an RTS and it's just not what I was expecting. If I could know what the devs were planning with the game, maybe some future change-logs to keeps players posted would help, but so far it doesn't look like I'll be keeping this game as it feel like I would get bored within 10 hours. I could still be convinced other wise though.
