Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse issue

Windows Button doesn't open start menu

Just bought a Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse and it has a dedicated Windows button, but does not do what the Windows button on my keyboard is configured to do which is open my Start menu (as configured in Start8). Ideas?
