I noticed an annoyance with Start8, which has probably always been there, but I finally was able to pin it down. If you set Win8.1's Taskbar to auto-hide, you can bring back the taskbar by mousing-over any part of the taskbar--except mousing-over directly onto the Start8 start button.
I installed Win8.1 on an old netbook with a 1024x600 screen. (No Metro apps--I could care less!) To gain more screen real estate, I auto-hide the taskbar. However, I kept thinking there was something unusual going on with WinExplorer or the Atom processor was overloaded when it wouldn't reappear at times, until I discovered that if I moused downward onto to where the Start8 icon is, the taskbar wouldn't reappear. However, mousing-over to any other part of the taskbar, the Taskbar would reappear.
Granted, this is a minor annoyance, but this means that I need to mouse-over down to a non-Start8 area of the Taskbar, then mouse-over to the Start button. So, is there some code that could be added to Start8 to show the taskbar if you do go directly to the Start button?
Verified on the following scenarios, with auto-hide turned on... (2 PCs, 2 Start8 licenses)
- Win 8.1 Pro x86 (all updates through 10/2014), Start8 1.47, single monitor.
- Win 8.1 Pro x64 (all updates through 10/2014), Start8 1.47, dual monitor. Both monitors exhibit the same problem.
Obviously there's no issue with auto-hide turned off...
