i was wondering if there was a way to align the links on the right ("documents"; "music"; "computer") with the ones on the left because as it is now there is a huge gap between them that bothers me.

If you click the advanced button on the configure tab in Start8 configuration you can make the list items on the right use less space. They should then match up better.
