start8,ver 131, does start 8 disable win8.1 installed apps/charms?

start8,ver 131, does start 8 disable win8.1 installed apps/charms? My user installed apps/icons work on win8 start menu, but the default apps/charms such as skype, store, help-tips, etc. - which used to work before I did the OS upgrade to 8.1 now no longer work.
