When you go into the design troops screen, do you see horses listed under equipment?

Yes! So there are no pre-designed horse units? I'm fine with designing my own, just want to be sure.

Do you have enough horses to build a unit. I think for a horse group of 3 people, you need 3 horses. Can you design horse units?

i can see horses in the design window but I haven't saved a design yet...ill check in a bit.

My capital produces 1 horse (per turn?). So maybe I need to upgrade something?

There are pre-designed horse units... not sure why you are not seeing them. You should a predesigned on in the design window, and it appears that you may not have enough horses to produce a horse unit. Check the research tree for mounted-warfare and see if they have a unit called horseman.

edit: In the design window for horsemen it should show you the cost to produce a horseman unit.

Okay just checked: in the design screen it says cost of a simple horse unit is one horse. I designed one and it shows up in my Train screen. I just can't see the pre-designed ones (yet?) for now. I'm okay with this. Just a learning process, which I like.

Sounds like you may be short of some other resource possibly for the pre-designed unit, maybe iron or crystal.

If you were short material doesn't it show anyway in the city "train" menu? You wont be able to select it and train them but if you put your cursor over it then it should say what material your missing.

But if it's not there at all you might not have researched the proper tech to train the horsemen, if memory serves i've gotten horses before i've gotten horsemen and was able to custom design my "Light Cavalry" and build them. But i play a pretty modified game so it might be one of the mods i'm using.
