Sure enough now the enemy leaders comes to me and says "It is time for peace". What no gold to back up your request?

The diplomacy in this game is pretty awful. The peace treaty issue is just one example. The PC has to pay huge sums to get anything done and yet the AI players only give you take it or leave it proposals.

I have never been able to pay an AI to declare war on a mutual enemy, even when their own relationship with that enemy AI was pretty bad.

The one major aspect that has receive little to no love from the start is the diplomacy system. I really hope it receives the overhaul it deserves.
