Alright long story short, I put my self against 3 unfair TL, had a good choke point, and let my coronata steal their fleets, and power level my titan to level 10, didn't take to long, but I did notice that when I got rank 4 unity mass, it was for 5.5k damage and it was lucky to do 1k damage. Why did I bother to spend those 4 points? It was practically useless, looks cool, but my auto attack could have probably beat that if I had put those 4 points into it.
Something doesn't seem legit here! How does 5.5k damage = around 1k damage? Devs can you fix this? If you will not make it hit the amount stated, will you give it some other buff, I've heard jokingly chain damage. That's a great idea!
But seriously, why does the coronata hit like a wet noddle?
Shield mitigation and armor. The thing you have to understand about Sins is that almost nothing deals close to its potential damage output in practice. Less than 20% of total damage is totally possible and even normal.
Shield mitigation is by far the most important one. As units take damage their shields get better at reducing damage, and this effect works even if the shields are "down". Even frigates can get mitigation values as high as 57%. Capitalships and titans could in theory get above 80%. 80% shield mitigation alone would reduce 5000 damage to 1000 damage, not including other buffs like damage reduction or sharing that might be in effect.
Armor is not as important because it basically acts as an increase to maximum hull, though it also contributes to hull damage not receiving the damage on the info card.
And to be clear, this affects almost all damage in the game, save sometimes phase missiles and hull draining effects like Nano Disassembler. Your base weapon damage will also be reduced by the same amount, so no your base weapons are not doing any more damage (as while the Coronata actually has the highest base damage of any titan, this is because it can target many ships at once, Unity Mass is what gives it its strong single target hitting power).
