My fleets are continuously getting wiped out, both by the AI and by other players, even when I have numbers and power advantages (Four lvl 5 plus cap ships (2 Durnovs, 1 Kol, 2 Sorva) and a titan (Ragnarov) on my side with 30 Kodiaks, 40 Percheron and 20 Hoshikos vs Five lvl 4+ capital ships, a starbase and a medium sized fleet, along with a bunch of defense platforms) I kept my fleet on the other side of the planet of the starbase, choosing to deal with it after I dealt with the defending fleet. Next thing I know, my percherons were useless because my fighters and bombers were being swatted down like flies. My sovas were taking a pounding, and no amount of sheild restore and repair bots would keep them alive, even with TWO Durnovs. The Kol was, like most Kols, taking a beating, but it was in very good shape. The kodiaks were gone within two minutes. The only ship that was generally unscathed was the Ragnarov. I had maybe a 60-40 shot of coming away with the planet in my grasp.
Then all hell broke loose and the AI brought in its own Titan. My entire fleet was wiped out within a space of a minute, with the exception of the Ragnarov, which I decided to sacrifice to destroy as many of the cap ships as it could to gain experience.
I'm just wondering what I did wrong here. My fleet was of equal size, even when the AI brought in the Titan. Idk why I got my clock cleaned so thoroughly and quickly.
If it makes a difference, I was playing against the advent.
