A challenge mode where you are given 1 fleet comprised of set or random forces. You will start out at a dead end connected to multiple forks in the road, then a count down timer will linger in the corner. You must attempt to reach the other side of the system before the countdown timer ever reaches 0. Each planet you jump to will have random compositions of forces and defenses and you'll receive additional time for each planet you clear. You will also receive reinforcements or buffs for completely clearing the gravity well. If you fail to reach the wormhole or star (whichever is the goal) before time runs out, well you'll definantly find out whats been chasing the vasari except all you'll see is the screen fade to black with a defeat. For multiplayer you could simply have a different series of lanes that either never connect to each other and first one to reach the goal wins, or alternatively have them intersect and you can join forces or annihilate each other.
