Just wondering, how much can the two sub factions vary via modding? My friend and I are planning a mod, and before we get too far I just want to know if I can mod in differences for not only titans and corvettes, but possibly other units as well.
Easily. We already do it in Distant Stars and plan on expanding it greatly with Rebellion.

Basically they can be as different as any other two factions are. You don't even have to use that subfaction selection screen if you don't want to and just want to keep more separate factions as before.
