So some of the issue was from the fact that sins rebellion changed its save location on windows. It used to reside within appData and now it resides within my documents/my games/ . I emailed my friends the save, had them delete the old data and we have been playing a 60 planet game with 6 people with success.

I play online 3 vs 3 bots and 2 of us (not necessarily the same ones) get desync every game, generally after 5-20 minutes). It is basically unplayable as it is. We never had this issue until last patch.
