[Suggestion] Idea for TEC SB: 9th upgrade

What if the TEC's 9th upgrade let you build structures around neutral gravity wells? I mean, aren't the TEC industrious?

Would definitely be an interesting game play advantage. Even if just a couple civilian structures.

How doesn't it make sense? You build it at a neutral gravity well, such as an asteroid field, then you can build structures using LEV frigates the SB spawns from an upgrade. You can upgrade the ability once for 1 LEV and 50% construction rate, then upgrade it again for 5 LEV's and 200% construction rate. Simple.

Would not require a major engine change. Mind you it would take some work but it can be done.

Idk..  It just didn't make sense how you wanted it to work.  I get it now.

Your choices and defensibility are somewhere limited. You can't deploy anything in a plasma storm and no strike craft in the ion cloud. I normally see space junks at the end of a phase chain (probably coincidence) and asteroid belts have the debuff, but could still be somewhat useful in delaying an enemy. You also wouldn't get your factions bonuses that require you to be in friendly territory outside of a culture buff. Lastly I think more often than not it would just be another way feed an enemy titan. 

However I think it does have potential to be a sort of "pit stop" since you can already construct frigates / cruisers along with platforms  or a phase inhibitor if being pursued through it.

Also forgot... GOD FORBID it's a minefield between planets....

Yes, there are. That's why I suggested this. All of the other factions have the max number of SB upgrades possible, except the TEC. So, why not an upgrade like this?

That would make the TEC way overpowerful then. If I could just build an SB and suddenly have factories up and running at a neutral gravity well that isn't even an SB. That means you can station yourself anywhere which is really overpowering. The TEC are already the best race. No need to give them such a buff.

I don't know TEC is a best race, but they are easier to play with, but best or powerful race? no, not that powerful but it's easier or even easiest to play, I dare said. My whole fleet with 10 level captian and 10 level titan just lost to few a.i advent 7 to 8 level titan and captian without had a major fleet backup. If anything Advent fleet way more powerful than TEC in late game.

Well, it could be justified by making the new structures at a specific range from the SB. Therefore, the SB's gravitational field (let's assume there is one) allows for, perhaps 2 civilian structures, making this upgrade viable. And it wouldn't make the TEC overpowered, because they can already construct ships and have trade lanes. Since TEC are industrial, it is fine. The biggest use I see for this is building Cap Factory or Broadcast centers. If this doesn't balance well, certain structures (like broadcast center since culture spread will be as good as the Advent) can be disabled.

No thanks.  Starbases stationed in Neutral Wells SHOULD be less defensible then those in friendly territory- being able to put down starbases in a neutral well is a very potent tactical advantage at times, and having those fortifications as stalwart as those of a friendly planet's would just be too strong.

 

I'm not even going to go into the problems providing logistic structure in neutral wells would create.

i am slightly against this as well, but i dont think it would be THAT difficult. just have the upgrade give the starbase some functionality of a small planet
