minidump after 15 min, consistently

Hi again developers, i'm getting minidumped at about the 15 min mark, on both of the games i've attempted to play today(both were 5v5's).

If you could, make a post on the website to assist players on how they can maximize their rig to avoid/limit minidumps so that any hardware limitations can be at least understood for purposes of upgrading my(and anyone else's) computer.

If the bug actually exists due to hardware limitations. 

I really don't want the main bug in this game to limit my ability to find the other little bugs and balance issues.

Please make the minidump feel less like a bit of voodoo magic.

In the Huge maps autosave causes my rig (i7 / 560ti) to lag and go backwards in time a few seconds. Could be your issue.

I know it's really obvious, but have you checked that you have the latest drivers and all that?

I'm running Sins on a fairly old rig (2.4Ghz C2D, 4GB, Win7 64bit) and have had only 3 crashes throughout the entire public beta and have decent performance with everything everywhere maxed! So as Scudhawk alluded to, perhaps a latest hardware issue?

good points all.

I'll doublecheck just to remind me that the issues you bring up aren't the source of the problem.

The developers SHOULD STILL POST A THREAD ABOUT MAKING YOUR COMPUTER MINIDUMP LESS.

I'm sure they have enough data fed to them to do this.

One lil thread, by one competent dev.

After all, they have admitted to its existence.  Time to provide some excellent customer service.  Better late then never!

So now after checking out the above suggestions, minidumps occur even faster then before, at about the 5 min mark.

na now i've minidumped after 5 min 2x in a row, this is consistently something wrong.

So thats a total of 4 straight minidumps in a row.

I know about being unlucky with minidumps, there is something happening with this.  I am the ONLY person minidumping out of these games.

To save my fellow testers a headache i'll stop testing the beta until it is fixed.

I was reading in another thread about how the advent loyalists could be crashing the game.

I was the only advent loyalist in all the 4 5v5's i was playing (should tell the developers something).  If there is a Faction specific bug(for loyalist advent) that causes a minidump then this could explain why minidumps are occuring at such a regular frequency.

I played a 4 man ffa, and recieved a minidump after the first 5 minutes playing as advent rebels, so thats 5 straight minidumps.

Can you minidump with Tech only?

We would need to see a minidump file to tell what's going on.

Okay just got back from my job interview (totally got it!).

Soooo i was looking around for the thread that would remind me (its been a while) how to send starclad a minidump report.  If anyone can either pm me a quick link to it or respond on the thread it would be much appreciated.

It will also get you a +1 karma.

ooooo incentives!!

as a note, my 6th game today was desynced at about the 15-20 min mark(4 man ffa).  I'm starting to think that if i build corvettes early I will minidump, and if I eco early I will desync.  Rock and a hardplace!!!

It should also tell them that people feel the Advent Loyalists are underpowered!  I have observed this as well, and the concessus also seems to be that their titan is the weakest so far (the Coronata).

[P.S. while you've had problems... this past weekend, I experienced some of my stablest gameplay in a long time!  About 10 games without a minidump, including a 4.5 hr FFA]!

Yarlen, I think he was asking about recommendations on graphic effects settings, etc.  I personally have all my effects at low, and have seen other people online recommend doing the same (if you're having problems).

as a side bit, my 25 MB limit imposed by gmail is preventing me from sending you the files.  This is very odd, as it has never done this before...and i've sent a few minidump files during the diplomacy beta.

any suggestions on how to get around this?

I read the compression bit in the readme.txt, been a while so i'm gonna try it out. Hope i don't send u some botched files.

Reviving this thread as I've been having exactly the same problem. I love this game and have been playing for months fine until a couple of days ago and now I'm mini dumped every 10 mins and I have triedto work out any cause and there isn't one nothing has changed on my rig or system

 

Really hope this gets fixed i got a rl friend to buyit to play together and I can't managed more than 10 mins

Same here, 15 minutes of play get minidump. I have all settings ultra hight.... i think the crash is for hardware limitation like in diplomacy , i will test with some options in medium, like my settings in diplomacy.

 


My friend dont have all on very hight, and every image i see the resolution is low like 1024x728, i play on 1920x1080 :/. If that is the problem i will be very sad

I keep crashing over and over as well, but I've only had one minidump created, albeit at 0 byte for some reason. A few times there has been a runtime error window but mostly there is just a sound and the game crashed to desktop. For me, the beta is utterly unplayable.

All drivers are up to date and my hardware is all of the latest generation. I can play Diplomacy on all the highest settings wihtout ever crashing.

Hopefully you can sort this out because I have a feeling that there is quite a bit of work left to be done prior to release.

On diplomacy i cant play with all setting in highest.

 

Yesterday i set Structures Hight, ship dump hight and trail detail to half, no problem of crash in my notebook. Resolucion 1600x900.

Try with other detail setting.

I'll give it a go but I should be able to run this on max as i cann easily run bf3 and other recent games etc. really hoping this gets fixed. I'll try running on much different settings see if it's playable. Oh I'm running ati card btw so not the nvidia driver issue

I've done every suggestion i've ever seen on these forums to stop minidumps.  I am at a loss, because they still occur with every game between 5-15 minutes(version .96).

Other players are coming to me asking me to renew the thread because they also are having minidump issues.  I asked them to send you guys the data as per your stickied thread.

Sareth has wireless. Every time he starts a game , a deer , what a mean creature deer can be, especialy after fermented applejuice , hugs a mast with sareth's acces point and disrupts his connection with his antlers.

I told Sareth to change to cable, but he is as stubburn as a deer .

situation looks hopeless... unless

 

Devs finaly make sins  a bit less sensivie to  connection interupts and packet loses.

FFS how many time can we give  u a ready solution. look at WOT. if u drop at wot , u can  REJOIN SAME GAME.

lol @ the deer!  Actually quar its not that i'm stubborn, its that i'm saving money to purchase a new car, and that takes priority over purchasing the new hardware/initial cable costs my setup needs at the moment.

I don't consider this an issue though quar, because i've ALWAYS PLAYED SINS WITH MY CURRENT SETUP.  That means I didn't minidump at all after they fixed the issues in diplomacy.  My minidumps occur because of the new unstable aspects of the game when played online.  I too wish there was a more stable version of online play, perhaps a rejoin feature.

That is unless of course that a diablo 3 install is causing me to minidump sins games.  That would be the only recent change to my computer as of late.

@ Yarlen

Yep I know you guys are working hard on this, thank you!  Any status updates would be nice so that we players could know if this lil bug will ever be vanquished.
