@OP: Honestly, I wouldn't mind giving it Pulse Beams, but I don't think that's ever going to happen due to the art requirements.
Good idea, but i'd prefer it to increase the number of phase missile batteries and how many ships it can fire at at once.
Increasing importance of PM's isn't something we need. More banks would be a decent alternative and would also allow abilities that would temporarily increase bank target counts which would be awesome.
Regarding the discussion about giving it anti-SC abilities, it feels like to me that those are really the only things that I ever have to worry about when using an Orky and I don't think such an ability would be wise. If I'm facing TEC, I'll give my orkies deflector shields to compensate for Orgovs. Against Advent, I'll go with Debris Vortex. Bombers are the only things that ever worry me all that much, so I wouldn't want them to become even more powerful, much as I love the things.
The only place I'd ever buff them is the population upgrade as trade will always be better and it takes a stupidly long time to recoup that investment.
