It's not about realism, just would make it feel more epic. Anyway all I've seen is negative feedback, thanks for the comments.
Well, everyone of us from time to time has said "hey, this isn't realistic scaling... It'd be cool to have it realistic"
Trouble is, nobody has any freakin idea as to how big things would have to be in order to reflect true scaling. I see that your post is limited to planet scaling...
well, you realize that it would make gravity wells bigger, right? If you leave ships the size they are, and say that fighters are the size of aircraft carriers, you would need a planet about as big as most Sin's solar systems....
If you wanted to downscale ships so that it better matched realistic sizes, I think we could save alot of processing power because frigates and fighters you wouldn't see at all and capital ships would be dots. Titans, I think you could actually see the model, but it would be pretty small. Maybe the size of the current game's fighter?
On the other hand, if you're just saying you want the planets a little bigger, that's doable. I think the trend towards bigger and bigger ships/structures has caused this feeling, however. When vanilla came out, you really felt the ships were these tiny things compare to the planet.
