Sure.
Build 1 lab and 1 extra frigate factory at start. research corvettes. Spam 30+ corvettes very quickly. Use these to clear local grav wells and snipe incoming constructors with ease, as well as gain air superiority and deal with scramble bombers. Start spamming disciples to counter the eventual vasari sentinel spam.
Get the second and 3rd labs and research antimatter stealing ability on disciples. By this time the vasari will be up shit creek(that is, if you destroy their starbase before they sell it), unless they starbase their HW fast. With the vasari on the defensive, you will press onwards and around them, always keeping a small corvette force near their HW to deal with their starbase sneaking.
It will take some testing, but there will be a certain "critical mass" of corvettes that will take out a starbase quick enough to limit losses.
With the added bit of antimatter stealing (need to test to see if this works on titans and capitals..it used to not work on capitals) the dreaded 2 carrier starbase combo is going to be effectively neutralized by the early game fleet.
This is all without having picked a capital ship. Picking the discordia in this situation would help you deal with clusters of enemy ships that could be spammed to support, or help you take out the carrier capital ships faster.
Picking the halcyon gives you more dps and I would consider it still a very strong opener...either to build bombers to blow up the starbase (supporting the corvette spam) or building fighters to deal with an early kanrak spam support over long vulnerable supply lines.
The progenitor works well too, healing your corvettes and providing malice to quickly take out any small supporting ships.
Its nice knowing that these three ships provide 3 different strong opening moves for the advent.
Going early bomber spam would work as well, but you risk a substantial loss if the enemy builds up a strong LF force to munch on your carriers. Since illuminators aren't that useful against single targets, and slow to spam, the advent are the weakest against a strong LF force. But then, the halcyon negates this weakness a bit with early strong strike craft.
