Quoting Timmaigh, reply 19... but its not like the game crashes the moment you start the game for them or build their Titan. Its unfinished, not broken...
So, if you play Vasari or Advent, you don't have the black screen problem, you don't have ship who dissappear, you don't have mine who go trought titan and don't explode, you don't have trade line who show incorrectly, you don't have... well, the list is long...
If the game is somehow broken with TEC, it will be with other races too... there is plenty of bug who are game engines related and who have nothing to do with any faction...
Quoting Timmaigh, reply 19Heh, you gotta love how people are outraged about one guy, who asked simple question.
Well, i have carefully read again and again the OP... there is no "?"... post is not about question but request... one between numerous other one... guy is using the beta for fun, not for help Stardock to make the game better by finding bug... first post ever made by the guy is for ask to enable other races... seem that beta testing was perfect for him, not problem at all...
I did not mean to advoquate him, but i thought people went over the top attacking him. Whether he asked or requested something, that just play of words, the point stays, no harm done.
The things you named, frankly, the only one i would consider to be a symptome of a broken game, is the black screen issue, and luckily, i did not have one myself personally, not while playing TEC nor Vasari. Other things like incorrect trade-lines or mines not exploding correctly, are just annoyances, you can easily overlook, as they are hardly game-breaking, you still can enjoy the game pretty much despite them. I did not built any mines myself as well, when i tried Vasari Loyalists, so there was no issue with them obviously. Nor have i seen any ships to dissapear - not telling now it did not happen, as its not easy to spot, when you have dozens of them.
Finally, you may argue, that point of the beta is to help StarDock to fix the bugs, but that is only part of the equation. For the most part, you are given the beta in exchange for preordering the game, not to help finding bugs, that is just bonus to devs, if you do so. And as a customer, you have no obligation to do it, so its nothing wrong to use beta just for fun. He did not paid for being a beta-tester after all, but to have fun. Similarly the devs are not obliged to accept his requests (and you do not see him around raging cause they ignored him), nor allowing anyone the access to beta, but as i said, they are doing it, to convince you to preorder the game in the first place. Because you know, better sparrow in hand, than a pigeon on the roof - old saying we have over here.
