I love the new game looking great so far. Been seeing a lot of complaints on Titans being overpowered or getting them too early in the game. Have a suggestion that could address this and could help with changing up the gameplay a bit.
Suggestion is this. ( I know we have a basic Fleet research tree, this would expand on that.)
Create a Fleet Management skill to research. Reduce the overall damage output from single ships(except maybe by less in a owned system), then buff it to normal when in a actual Fleet. With each increase in the skill Fleet Management, you would be allowed more ships to be added to the Fleet, other perks could be added too.
The current Fleet research would be considered more in line of the amount of total ships you can maintain, as in upkeep and maintenance. Where the new research Fleet Management, would be a bonus for actually being in a highly organized and well trained Fleet.
Can keep it simple like that or can spice it up for more variety and specialization.
Maybe you would want to have the ability to have X # of ships in each Fleet ( upgradable with research) and have up to 4 or 5 actual Fleets at max research. Have a research window set up with 5 Fleet sections, ( like any current research page just identical sections instead of weapons, defences and ships they would all be the same) , and in each section you have the same skills sets to research from but can only choose one specialization for each fleet.
Specializations would be sweet I think. Some basic examples than can easily be expanded upon with skill boosts etc...
Patrol Fleet: Grants increased speed with a smaller Fleet size. Bonus damage to other ships, and ship impairment skills like jumpdrive.
Strike Fleet: Grants increased speed with bonus to attack but slight drop in defence a very small Fleet size. Splash damage increase with long cooldown.
Assault Fleet: Grants increased damage output and a large fleet size capable of using Titan.
Defence Fleet:Grants increased Defence and Very large Fleet size capable of using Titan.
Carrier Fleet: Grants increase in attack and defence of strike craft bombers/fighters and slight defence boost of Fleet ships due to highly skilled fighter pilots.
Twerk this however ya want to make it work, just a suggestion. Love to see what ideas this sparks in others, I am sure much can be done to make this a better suggestion. I highly doubt anything will come of the time I spent typing this out ( I hate typing) but love the game enough to hope it keeps getting better and better, so there is my 2 cent.
