I don't know if it's just me or what but something seems really strange about the map generator. There seems to be way too much dead or otherwise unbuildable land. I have started on several maps where I have no where to build new cities-- only outposts while the computer seems to have new cities and such everywhere. This is even happening on Temperate maps where one should expect to find lots of areas for settling. I know it's supposed to be a post cataclysmic world, but it is really hard beating a more intelligent AI when the map gives the computer a huge territorial advantage. Perhaps you could create a spell like Gaia's Blessing in MoM which allows our outposts to slowly spreads fertile land into dead regions allowing us to build cities? Though Gaia's Blessing was a really late spell in MoM and the spawn point disadvantage really hurts from the get go.
Third map in a row. Not even 30 turns into the game I just find a place to found 1 new city after wading through monsters and I find an AI kingdom with THREE cities founded so far...
Speaking of the computer and cities... Pioneers seem to be way too cheap... that or they need to be only available when the city has reached a certain growth threshold kind of like in Civilizations. IIRC settlers in MoM required a certain population level to be built as well. The computer especially seems to be able to generate new cities enmasse. In one war with an imperial civilizations (the bear symbol) I smashed all of his major cities then had to go on this massive campaign to root out all these little cities that seemed to keep spawning pioneers to found new cities to keep him alive. It got rather frustrating especially since it was on a map with dense monster population and the computer certainly didn't seem to be having problems losing units or cities to the monsters.
Explorers-- I am not sure what causes it exactly but I have been experiencing a bug where my explorers won't... explore. I press the button for auto explore but nothing happens and I am forced to tell the explorers where to go each turn. Once this happens, it seems to remain in effect until I leave the game or start a new map.
SLEEP! Please oh PLEASE can we get a "sleep" command for units like Pioneers? Often times I create my pioneers before I have made it safe for them to go to the area I want to settle or I premake them before exploring the area. I would rather have them sleep in a safe spot until I am ready to move them than have to keep interrupting my exploration to make sure that they are the reason I cannot advance to the next turn.
That's all for now.
