As seen in the Civ games: show a contiguous line of the route a unit will take to reach a waypoint, marking on the line where each turn ends (after two squares, have a (2), after four have a (3) marked on the line, etc. Also indicate under the cursor the estimated turns for a given destination.
This system might work if you can hold down RMB to activate the info display, and release to set a destination.
Finally, it would be great is this path line would show up when you clicked on a unit.
Edit:
Gonna sneak in one more little (unreleated) suggestion. I would like "Previous" and "Next" arrows in the inventory screen the cycle through the inventories of units in the stack. Otherwise you have to close the current inventory, select the next unit and click to open their inventory again.
These arrows should also be in the "store" interface as well.
Edit:
Rather than create another thread, I'm adding another idea to this one.

Show height of land under cursor when using raise/lower land spells.
I started on an island and got a quest with a destination that was on another continent. I used raise land to make the sea passable. However, when I got to the cliffs of the far shore, even though I had raised the land once and it *looked* passable it wasn't.
It would be nice to have some visual feedback on whether the land was raised enough to be passable, and what the game registers it's "current height" at.
This would also help in some cases where hills look traversable but are not.
