Turn 1,293
Dragon Knight Unit
[Tier 3] Fire Mage Pack [Spells-Fireballs, Inferno, Fire Immolate]
Fire Drake Sword [Fire Dmg on Swing]
Fire Drake Armor [Fire resistance, Does not flee, +HP]
Teleporting Rune [Teleports in tactical, also on strategic] Artifact
Cloak of Shadows [Invisibility]
If you're wondering I had to kill a Fire Drake, it gave me the option to either use the Carcass as a Resource or scavenge all the remains. I'm sure I could have gotten a whole bunch of great items if I scavenged but I wasn't near any enemy empire and I figured the long term investment in a Fire Drake Resource would pay off. I chose resource then after the Fire Drake turned into a red colored dead drake resource on the Map. I got my Engineers to the location, and build a Mining Outpost since all I wanted was the resource, so now I have "Fire Drake as a Resource". After that I was given the option to research Fire Drake Mining and lots of other techs. (You need to discover Fire Drake Resource in order to unlock its research in the civilization tree, either pray there is one randomly on the map or kill a drake. Sometimes Ppwerful Adventurers kill them for you which can be nice if its early on.)
Same applies with the Tier 3 Fire Mage Pack, I unlocked it's research tree by killing a Large Fire Elemental so I researched it, and wallaa. I'm hoping to defeat a Grand Fire Elemental since they give you Tier 5 Fire Mage Packs, and also give you the option to resource them a as a Fire Crystal. I'm not sure if they are called Grand Fire Elementals, maybe it's a Fire Titan.. I dunno.
Teleporting Rune I lucked out and found an Ancient Artifact Resource, one of the few artifacts out there.
Cloak of Shadows came off the Phantasmal Resource.. Found it by chance don't know very much about it and the research trees arn't all completed yet. I would like this cloak more if my enemies didn't have Third Eye equipment, but it's my own fault, I kept winning battles early on with Cloak of the Shadows and well the AI caught on pretty fast. If Watch Towers didn't naturally have See Invisible i'm sure I woulda wiped out the entire map.
I made an Elite Squad of Dragon Knights considering that's all I could afford and mind you I'm on turn 1,293 I sent them into a battle with my enemies [50 Fallen Warriors 20 Fallen Archers, 3 Ogres and 1 Fallen Champion]
------
Tactical Begins! It's my turn and I decide it's best if I attack the archers first considering the dmg they might do in the long run. So I teleport behind the archers using my rune, and attack 1 company [10] I kill them pretty easily considering the AI didn't expect me to teleport (Its my first time using it)
Fallen Turn: The 2nd Company of Archers fire away on my Squad, did more dmg then what I wanted.. 1 of my 4 Dragon Knights are dead. The Fallen are also closing in on my position I figure it's going to take 2 turns for the Warriors to reach me, and about 3 turns for the sloth Ogres to inbound. It's my turn now.
My turn: Luckily the Archers were right next to each other so I attack the 2nd Company, I kill them easily due to there lack of Fire Resistance, and Armor.
Fallen Turn: Both Ogres and Warriors are very close by now.
My Turn: I teleport in a distant area and open up my Spells, I cast fireball killing a company [10] seeing as I have 1 more action point I cast Inferno on 2 companys killing [15] looks like im kicking some ass here.
Fallen Turn: They advance towards me. Not much they can do really, I pretty much rock this field.
My Turn: I might as well test this unit to it's fullest so I go teleport inbetween the remaining warriors [25] I cast Fire Immolate and attack a company. Between Immolate +dmg and my Attack we kill another company of warriors.
Fallen Turn: The remaining Warriors attack my Dragon Knights but soon as they do take Immolate dmg killing 5 of them but not without killing 1 of my Dragon Knights. I'm now down to 2 Dragon Knights.
My Turn: I decide to finish the remaining warriors off and then cloak seeing as now the fallen are down and ogres don't have Third Eye =D I advance towards the slower but stronger Ogres and start hacking away. As the last Ogre falls I remember about the Fallen Champion.... at this point my action points are over and In a state of mind of "Oh shit...."
Fallen Turn: Yep.... Fallen Champion had invisibility as well it popped out of nowhere and basically hacked my remaining Knights apart. All this time the Fallen Hero has been stalking me. Sending out it's weaklings so it has me just right. All I can say is.. DAMN YOU BRAD and your AI!
Not to brag about my loss but my 4 Dragon Knights costed far more than those peons I killed, and that empire i faught was ranked last....
Note to Self: Third Eye is a must!
------
This is what i'd like to say in Beta 4 :>
------
I really hope they allow Mage like units and I suppose all you would need is 1 open hand and a Mage Pack very much like the scout pack or even Pioneer pack.
Magical units definitely opens up the creativity tree.
Fire Mage Pack- Fireballs [Land+Air, small radial dmg]
Air Mage Pack- Lightening Bolts [Land+Air, chaining dmg]
Earth Mage Pack- Quake [Land, Large radial dmg]
Ice Mage Pack- Freeze [Air+Land Chance Freezes Target]
Wizard Staff- Also by adding in something like this you could increase your magical dmg and the magical animation would cast out of the staff rather than from 2 hands or 1 hand.
Wizard Staff + Magical Dmg [Casts slightely Larger fireballs from the staff]
2 Hands = Magical Dmg [Casts normal fireballs from both hands]
1 Hand - Magical Dmg [Casts slightely smaller fireballs from the open hand]
Could even go deeper and with 2 hands your spell is at normal power with only 1 hand and say a sword or wep in the other your spell is half effective but with a Wizard Staff your spell is amplified 2x or 10x depending if you have a Grand Wizard Staff =D Also who's to say you can only have 1 pack on? Lets make the Mage an Elementalist and give him all 4. Anyway the ideas go on and on... You could even do a Darkling Summoning Pack, Imp, or whatever you want.
Heres hoping.
