Is it possible to play multiplayer with one disk?

Hello.

I am relatively new to sins of a solar empire, and would like to know if it is possible to play by LAN using only one copy of SOASE installed on several computers.

Is it actually posible or allowed?

You and one other person can play over LAN using the same copy.  However, in a game of 10, for instance, 5 copies would be required.  Also, to play on ICO(Ironclad Online) each person must have their own copy.

-Edit:  Also, note that once the game is installed you do not need to have the disc in the drive to play, it is completely installed on your computer, along with any expansions you have.

So I could have a two player game with one copy. But in order to play a three player game (by LAN), I would need another copy, rigth?

Correct.  At least, according to the manual, you'd need another copy.  (I have done 1v1 games with my friend using only my copy, so I know at least that is true.)  However, the thread Argent linked to suggests more can join with only one copy.

I can confirm that 2 people can play per 1 copy bought, but I'm not 100% beyond that.
