With NextSTART you can conveniently access all your programs and files using a highly structured and completely customisable menu tree system. Menu configuration is a breeze with full support for drag & drop. Tear off sub-menus can be conveniently left open - rolled up or not - and placed anywhere on your screen while you work on related tasks. Winstep’s hotspot technology allows you to quickly open menus and launch programs by bumping screen edges and corners or by clicking anywhere on the desktop or other application windows. Above all, NextSTART is very easy to configure, providing a full-blown GUI Preferences screen.
As with earlier versions, NextSTART 3 is fully skinnable and resolution independent. Changing themes is a one-click process, with no need to reconfigure menus and hotspots every time the theme is changed. A wide range of themes are supplied with the package and many hundreds more are freely available online. NextSTART 3 is fully compatible with all previous NextSTART 2.x themes.
Installing NextSTART 3.0 Beta:
NextSTART 3 Beta MUST be installed over an existing NextSTART 2.x installation, so go download and install NextSTART 2.81 or Winstep Full Pak if you haven't already.
Do NOT uninstall any previous NextSTART or Winstep Full Pak installation to install the new NextSTART 3 Beta.
Make sure NextSTART 3 and the previous version share the same installation folder.
Important note for registered NextSTART 2.x users:
NextSTART 3.0 final will cost $24.95, but version 2.x users may, for the limited period of the beta preview, purchase NextSTART 3 for ONLY $19.95 - a full $5.00 discount over the final price!
NextSTART 3 Beta will not interfere with current NextSTART 2.x installations. To go back to NextSTART 2.x simply run nextstart2.exe instead of nextstart3.exe.
Important note for non-registered users:
Until the release of NextSTART 3.0 final, users registering NextSTART 2.x or Winstep Full Pak get a FREE NextSTART 3 key worth $24.95! This key will be valid for all 3.x versions up to, but not including, 4.0.
New features in NextSTART 3 Public BETA 3:
* Fixed Beta Timeout after Jan 1st 2003.
* New Internal Command: 'Rebuild Icon Cache'.
* The 'No Titlebar on sub-menus' and 'Lock sub-menu width' options for horizontal menus are now skinning options instead of per user settings.
* The icon size of Quick Launch items was not being saved properly.
* Problem that would make NextSTART 3.0 themes crash version 2.81.
* If there were no Quick Launch items, the Quick Launch section would not be visible on the startbar, which would prevent it from being populated with items by using drag & drop.
