I wonder about your drivers....are they up to date? If you update, uninstall the old ones first.

Also, with all the issues you've been having with forums, etc. I wonder if it isn't time to do a format and reinstall?

Make sure you do a backup to an external drive first....defrag/av-malware scan before that. Then disk image a backup.

Then do the reinstall....it'll be like getting a new machine.

lou, WB can't turn your modem off. There's something else afoot. I didn't know about the recent installation, but could you be using out of date drivers? I would suggest going to your computer manufacturer's website and seeing if uninstalling your present drivers (video first, and if that doesn't work the Motherboard drivers) and installing new ones might not solve the problem.
