Oooops! I sat on them!

Yeah my specs, i sat on them and now they have this funky new twisted look.. Heh, well not anymore, i've tried to make them look normal but, still, they feel weird when i wear them.

It aint the first time it's happened. I've sat on them, went to bed with them, stepped on them, they fell so many times from desks, dining tables, bedside tables... All accidents of course.

I think i'm a hopeless careless.

But i love them. I would sing their praises. Heck i'd be a bat without them on my nose! When i dont wear them, even if you were 5 metres away i wouldnt recognize you (well i'd probably guess it's you by your walking or dressing or whatever) because you would already be blurred.

I am a (very) shortsighted person. I cant read my computer unless the screen is 15 cms away form my face or unless i wear my glasses.

I think i'll be blind by the age of 30

Anyway maybe i should design electric specs that would emit an electrical discharge at the touch of a butt! Mmh, maybe i should just stick to being a bit more careful...

Your glasses sound like mine six weeks ago. Mine are now worse - one of my nose prtoectors has broken off so now it hurts to wear them, part of thearm has snapped off, and one of my arms is so bent it's lucky its still attached.

Needless to say I have an optometrists appointment on Friday and I'll get new glasses in 2-4weeks after that.

Gulp! Sounds like your glasses went to war trina! I had the protector thingy broken once too on an old pair. As a result my nose got bruised it was really sore... I think the time has come for you to get a new pair!

As for mine, well i think they can take more bad treatments...mwahahaha!

ROFL, , very funny article!! and I soooooo can relate to it!!!! maybe if we put up little flags where ever we want our glasses to "sit" we could see them then, kinda like at the malls, ya know? how ya put a smileyface on the antenna? Trudy

Aaah, i was waiting for someone to come up with the contacts idea. You see Tex, i'm scared of putting my finger in my eye (i was gonna type 'my eye in my finger' ). It just looks like *screams* scary shit!

He he he . . . it's not nearly as scary as you think . . . but maybe you should have your glasses fitted with one of those clappy thingies they have for car keys . . . you clap and they beep!

Do you wear contacts Tex?

My boyfriend does and when i see him putting them on i ran out from the room he's in with goosebumps all over my arms and neck!

Yeah, I have worn them since I was about 12 or so, so I'm pretty comfortable with them. My husband recently had PRK eye surgery (his eyes were really, really bad) and it was a great solution for him. Our poor kids don't have a chance . . . they're both gonna need glasses when they're older.

My wife sits on hers fairly regularly. Like you, should would be blind as a bat without 'em. But she does wear contacts, although she told me of a similar fear to yours when she first started wearing them. Now she is a practised hand. Her only real complaint is she can't see properly while she is putting the contacts in...

Oww, i sympathise for your children, hopefully they wont have to wear glasses after all. Nature is pretty surprising sometimes. Both my parents have eyesight problem, and my brother doesnt need specs at all.

He he he . . . some people are just glasses people, I think. Besides they have some really cute ones.

What's a PRK eye surgery?


They use a laser to reshape the cornea. It's painful for a few days, but he can see really well now and doesn't have to worry with contacts or glasses. Of course, the Army paid for his, and I'm not sure what the cost would have been otherwise. A few thousand maybe?

My wife's biggest complaint now is that contacts can't be made to be bifocal...

Well if i'm already terrified of putting inoffensive contact lenses in my eyes how could i deal with the thought of a laser re-shaping my handicaped eye??

Maybe i truly am a glass person (it suits me to say that, doesnt it hehe)

It is scary . . . Draginol has a blog about his lasik surgery, and he was scared like you are about putting things in his eyes, and he did it!

I think it's worth it, and I'd like to have it done someday, but it would take me a while to raise the funds, too. I think it will get cheaper as time goes on.

Granny lenses - the ones with a split in 'em so a user doesn't have to change between reading and distance viewing glasses. Of course, contacts can't be bifocal - I was trying to be funny...

Glasses are awesome! They're like man-made roaches. They just don't give up and they servive some serious beat-downs. i have a nice bit of concrete in one of my linses because when i was pouring some it splashed up on my glasses. I just thought it was sweat so i barely did anything to get it off. i ended up scraping dried concrete off of them. Luckily, it was only a small area.

These little guys have been through it all. I've had to put 3 new screws in mine in the past 2 months. People keep trying to be cool by taking them off of my face and wearing them themselves. As they are about to hand them back, literally, 90% of the time they reach the floor before they reach my face. It's crazy.

Texas- Yeah, it surely would be sweet to be able to see fine without having to wear glasses or lenses. But it looks sooooo expensive! Ahh! it's okay, by the time i make up my mind i'm sure my outrageously rich husband will pay for the operation

dynamaso - hum it would indeed be a little bit of a challenge to design bifocal contacts! Sounds like your wife is not very lucky eyesight speaking... I cant say i'm lucky either but i only need glasses to see in distance, not to read.

Captain - It is such a pain when people try my glasses on, i want to tell them be careful FRAGILE. But then again when they see how i treat them...
