I feel a bit like the bob dylan song, only all i really wanna do is, baby, watch star wars. what is it about one little line that can strike such a thing in you? i recieved an e-mail with the subject 'you know of the rebellion against the empire?' maybe it's just the current political climate, but the r-word is getting tastier and tasier by the moment.
well, i thought that i had a lot to say tonight.
what's on my i-pod? a down payment, i guess.
ive been reading a lot lately. much to my surprise, i finally got the latest issue of Wired. an article about the peer-to-peer network of columbian farmers and how they've beat the evolutionary odds by 'developing' a roundup resistant strain of coca in four years by selevtive breeding and by trading cuttings. another article about brazil and the plans to make all brazilian music free to all. something about granting citizzens the same kind of license that allows radio stations to play songs without prior permission. they'd just keep track of what people download and pay royalties that way. well, we'll see. also, an interesting reinterpretation of a DaVinci sketch of an invention.
i had a good conversation with caleb today about archiving all the cool stuff libraries have on vinyl (like traditional 'eskimo' songs) and making it freely available online in mp3 format. would this be possible? how many hours of anthropological/folkloric is there?
i'll write more on this in a bit.
