The second of the two Vasari Armor upgrades claims to reduce the mass of their ships, 4% per upgrade. What effect, if any, does this actually have?
Does no one know?
A search suggests 'speed'. More acceleration makes sense; -- F=MA.
I thought about that as well, but it seemed odd that they wouldn't then just say "increases speed X%" instead. All the other types of upgrades state the direct effect of the upgrade (ex: increases AM regen 5%) and then perhaps give a little explanation of how, rather than something so indirect.
Good question. I guess I wouldn't mind knowing the answer.
I'd imagine that lighter ships are easier to maneuver; accelerate and turn faster.
Yeah, it should affect turn rates/arcs as well.
Ships are coded with a simple physics system that has engine thrust vs. ship mass. The ships still have the same max speed, but become more nimble with a lighter mass.
No weapon in the game pushes ships around, so mass doesn't play a role there.
