why does it take longer to build a ship on a colony than on my home planet ? the class of the colony planet is higher, and the population is also higher ? thanks
population doesn't influence production at all
and the base homeworld colony is like a big fat research industry farm, all in one
while other planet base colonies have less of all
A TA colony has 14 industry/14 research, while a civilization capital (homeworld) has 24 of each. (Obviously this is further modified by any factories or labs you may have in addition to both your racial abilities and your funding, but this is the primary reason things will build slower on [new] colonies.)
