Put up your tree, though. It's something pretty to look at. If you do angel tree or other gift donations, maybe you can store those items under the tree until time to drop them off...a visual reminder of how blessed you are.
ahead of ya on this one TW....LOL. Tree's done and it does look pretty if I say so myself! Picked up a form for a foster kid. He's two years old. I picked him because he's the same age as Ethan. So I just bought what I thought Ethan would like. I actually bought this child the same Little Tykes gift I got Ethan. Then I bought him two pairs of Pjs (my thing) and a few sets of little blue socks to match along with a child's cup with a straw that also matched.
The other thing I did was place some really pretty Christmas decorative boxes and tins under my tree. They are empty but sure look pretty!!! That way when I start making fudge or cookies for the neighbors I can just go under the tree, pick out the appropriate box and send it off.
PS - It took us 2 days to switch out the decor. It's fun, but man is it a lot of work. And we don't really even do outdoor lighting.
ya, pretty much the same here. We've never done much for outdoor lighting but they do it up big down here so if we don't we're going to look pretty dark. I only have two windows that face the front of the house. So even if I put candles in the windows it's not going to do much.
Gavin is sooooo excited about Christmas this year. He can't stop talking about it.
My oldest isn't too excited. He's more excited about being off school than the holiday. He wants cash for Christmas. Heh. Fat chance. And a cell phone. Another fat chance.
that's so much like we were T. One time we were told (by one of them) we were the strictest parents in the school! Heh! They didn't get what all their friends were getting. Heck I wouldn't put internet in the house until my youngest was a Senior. The funny thing is they are all very very computer literate now not to mention cell-phone attached. Didn't seem to hurt them one iota.
I wish I could say my Christmas will be a great one but maybe I should just be happy it's not worse.
Charles....that's so......so......Grinch-like way to think about this. Remember Christmas is what you make of it. Remember too, it's not supposed to be about us. It's supposed to be about others and of course mostly about the one we celebrate in the first place. Afterall it's his birthday. Have you thought about making a birthday cake for Jesus?
Have a Merry CHRISTmas Charles.
If I may suggest perhaps you should watch the movie "Christmas with the Kranks" (whether you have or not). It could give you and idea of what to do since the point of the story is very similar to your current Christmas situation and yo get some good laughs in the process.
hmmmm never heard about this movie. Who's in it? New or old? Good laughs=good medicine.
