Charles -- it amazes me that you've gone around on a bunch of threads talking about the ignorance of Obama voters and then you post this. What part of Obama is CHRISTIAN are you failing to understand?

My apologies Shades, I mean to say he has a Muslim name (that's what I get for being in a rush), but his father was a Muslim though. As I said, I am willing to admit my mistakes.

I must have missed that part of history when blacks hung whites.

Racism is hating some one for the color of their skin. I was taught it was Not inducive to black or white or latino, etc. it was indeed any person hating or judging another person for having a skin color different than their own. I find it interesting folks can hate another person based on skin color and be fine with it, but yell racism when someone judges them by their own measure.

 

I could care less what color anyone is as long as their cool.

Oh I understand the significance. and if you would have stated that in your reply that would have been it. I don't find it comical to hang effigies of political figures (black or white). You know there would have been a huge s**t storm if someone hung Obama in effigy, even if it was politically motivated not racially and rightly so. So why support it in any form? Just because it isn't your guy? I can't change the past, and I never hung anyone (real or not), so what really matters is now and the future. What's wrong for one should be wrong for all.

I don't think it is getting support and it wasn't taken as if it was all in good fun it got the attention of the secret service and the FBI and for some reason they determined it not to be a hate crime.

I can't change the past, and I never hung anyone (real or not), so what really matters is now and the future. What's wrong for one should be wrong for all.

Obama's new home was built in part by slaves. If you look around at the emotion and disbelief in the faces of many blacks in this country you'll see that history for them is not easily or even possible to ignore. It will be a very long time before this countries history is truly in the past and it will not be for whites to decide when that happens but regardless of your opinion of Obama his election to the highest office in the land was a huge leap toward to that day.

Hardly, LW wrote that if he screws up it will set race relations back a hundred years.

Why else would anyone say "well what did you expect?" because he's a democrat? how would that effect race relations? No she's saying that some would say "well what did you expect for a black man". That would be very clearly racist and only racist people would say that, which is what I believe she meant to say hence the correction.

AHH ok was making sure. I do expect Obama to not live up to his promises. I do expect him not to be the "all saving Messiah" many claimed him to be. Not because hes black, but due hes a first term senator with little experience. If he had a few more years under his belt I would feel more confident in his abilities.

Speaks volumes to me.

Its hard to concieve he won with these stats and with as little experience as he has. I am a Democrat but he was not my choice of the 2 candidates. I chose experience over the Media frenzy.

I disagree.  Vested interests will see to it that it remains.  The domestic grievance industry won't just vaporize in January.  And America will still be considered a racist country in spite of Obama's election once the euphoria of the moment passes.  You will recall that more than one well-known voice proclaimed that an Obama defeat would be proof that the US is a racist nation - the margin of victory was too small to put that argument to rest.  Mark my words.  'Gird your loins.'  That same argument will be resurrected during his run for re-election.

If Obama's move toward the center wasn't all political I think he'll make a decent president. If he goes along with everything Pelosi and Reed barf up this we be another carter administration.

On that, we agree.  And I hope his promise to be President of 'all the people' wasn't just one of those Bidenesque 'rhetorical flourishes.'

I witness history on a daily basis. The color of obama's skin though is not history, it is irrevocable proof of a sitatuation that has existed for a while now, easily decades.

The only historical thing about it is how openly socialist he is, and his close relationship with terrorists and racists.

History is made every day. I've been witnessing it for a tad over 47 years now.  I am happy to see that our nation has progressed to the point that a black man can be elected President, but it really was just a matter of time and I don't consider it that big a deal and it really isn't all that significant (except to racists).

 

I only hope the guy does a good job. I truly hope he is noted in the history books for somethng better than just being the first black President.

The Black Plague was also history in the making but I would hardly consider it a good thing.
