When I was in Alaska, a state park ranger took my family on a nature walk in which she informed us it is illegal to pick any sort of flora in large parts of Alaska. (Where we lived you couldn't cut down a single tree or large shrub without permission from the forestry department. Alaska has more rules than "civilized" states.)
Bout that time a tree hugger, with a t-shirt reading something appropriate to the ideology, came barreling down the path with a fist full of of wild flowers.
She stopped him and told him the law. You can't pick flowers here, and for safety, you shouldn't be out here (a known bear area) without at least another person.
It was hysterical. He was indignant.
Save the TREES, but don't think for a minute of telling them they can't pick flowers and run through the woods like nut jobs distributing the wild life!
