Charles,
Wow, it's nice to know I am not alone in my "the world hates me" kinda feeling. I have similar feelings about the world around me. It seems that no matter how much good I do, no one ever sees me as the good guy.
I normally don't give a toss about ignorant people. I'm a glass-half-full kind of guy. But lately, my store of patience and pleasantness has been depleted and I've not really had a chance to fill it up again. A holiday is definitely necessary.
The last time I had what could be considered a real vacation was about 6 years ago (more or less) when I went to Puerto Rico to baptize my older son. Money was super tight so enjoyment was limited, but it was nice to get away for a while. Although trading my satelite TV, A/C, my computer and internet, my convenience of fast food joints and movie theaters for a small town with local (and extremely boring) channels, no A/C in tropical weather during the summer, no computer or internet, the closest fast food was 30 minute drive and theaters were farther, was not my idea of a vacation, more like a week at a survivor island with no prize at the end of the show.
See, to me, that sounds like an ideal holiday. I find a lot of our modern trapping distracting and vaguely irritating sometimes too, particularly television. About the only thing I will miss will be my guitar, I think. I could do Survivor standing on my head. 30 days... pah!
Enjoy you vacation, it only encourages me to believe I will have vacations like yours sooner or later.
Thanks very much.
BlueDev,
Hope the vacation helps renew the perspective Maso. You deserve a good one mate.
Thanks heaps, Pete. I'm sure this break will be just what I need. Hope you have a nice break too. And by the way, it is good to see you.
Tex,
You sound so burnt out. The vacation sounds incredible, though. I can't wait to see photos. I hope you have plenty of time to relax, enjoy, and recharge.
I hope I haven't laid it on too thick. As I said to Doc, I think I've been feeling like this partly due to the fact I had a flu coming on. Now that it is upon me and while I don't feel particularly well, I no longer feel so pissed off. Relaxing and recharging are exactly what Toni and I plan to do.
Zoo,
That vacation sounds pretty sweet, enjoy it!
Oh, I will mate. One of the things I'd like to do is 'Breakfast with the birds' - a tour of a wild life sanctuary where you literally have breakfast with hundreds of local parrots. I'm sure you'd love it. I'll let you know what it was like when we get back. Thanks for your comments, mate.
I wanna go somewhere quite and relaxed with scant or zero PEOPLE. I wanna sleep late and then get up and drink coffee in my underwear. I want to while away and afternoon reading this John Irving Novel I've been meaning to get too. I wanna go on a good, long run at sunset. I wanna kick back and get outrageously intoxicated and howl at the moon.
I agree with you for the most part. The only person I want to be with is Toni, but that kind of goes without saying. As for the rest, well it sounds perfect, mate. Hope you get to have a break like this soon.
Kelly,
Here's to you vacation coming soon. It's almost spring for you though.
A get away will do you good.
Actually, spring has officially started here, although the way the weather is here at the moment, you wouldn't know it. And where we are going, to the tropics, the temperature at the moment is 22 to 29 degrees celcius, which is just beautiful. Ah, the tropics, gotta love it. Thanks for stopping by, Kelly. Good to see you.
