Planetary shields, how do they work?

When I build Planetary Shields, they don't seem to do anything. They have an antimatter reservoir of 300, yet they never use it. Even when the planet is being bombed, the antimatter doesn't go down. Besides they don't seem to slow the damage the planet takes.

Could someone answer this for me please? I can't figure out why Planetary shields have an antimatter reservoir when they never use it, even when the planet is being bombed. Seems like a glitch too me.

I dont often play tec, but from what i remember, planetary shields add 3000dp to the planet. I don't remember specifically how it works, but you might need to put it closer to the planet or something. I wish i could help more, but they are rarely useful anyway i think..

The shield generator absorbs 30% bombardment damage, then 50% and 80% with more research. I don't think the antimatter pool is ever used for anything. Maybe it used to be and they just left it in?
