I just wanted to say thanks to Iron Clad and Stardock for this wonderful game. I've been playing it for the last several days whenever I have a chance and it has continued to grow on me. When I first got the game I liked it, but I felt that I'd made a mistake. It felt generic and a little bit boring, but that was really my fault. I find as I get older I am less able to accept new games that kind of shoot outside the box and it takes me longer to come around. After playing through several games with all the races and several different sizes of galaxies I've gotten a really good feel for the game. I'm not saying I'm a master of it, I'm just saying I've seen most of what the game has to offer on the surface.
One thing that I've noticed is that the more I play the game the ways I find /to/ play the game. The challenges in built into the game are a great way for the devs to force you to explore different ways to play. Last night I played a small map and only used capital ships against the normal AI (I'm not good enough to take on a hard AI just yet; P) I found it to be REALLY different from playing on large maps with several AI and using all the ships. IT was very tense, very fast paced, and I had to really use the capital ships to their full potential. For example I was in a battle with two capital ships on my side vs. his one Kol battleship and several cobalts. I noticed I was going to lose the battle so I used my colony cap to slow down his Kol and made my other capital ship flee. Using this tactic I was able to draw back both ships without losing either of them and come back later to win. You just don't get these kinds of moments as often when you're playing with the full fleet. The computer AI Was very smart and tried to thwart me at every turn, and it never ran from me once (Why should it, it could have beaten me based only on numbers) With the use of pirate raids and hit and run tactics I was able to force the AI to give up, (never seen a game where the AI gives up before. I've played previous games where I totally owned the AI with a giant fleet and they never gave up even as I bombed their last planet) At any rate I really want to thank the Devs for making such a great game and I want them to know that not everyone is here to complain! Keep up the good work and keep up your spirits. The proof is in the copies of your game sold, not in the loudest voice of the most disappointed customers.
SO! The point of this post is to so thank you. If you agree with me, that Stardock and Ironclad deserve our thanks then please sign your name to this thread and say thank you! IF you don't agree with me then please, go else where to complain!
